US National Intelligence Services have declassified a report on the 2020 presidential election revealing that Russia messed with the 2020 election campaign in order to promote Trump and to denigrate Biden. They’ve also confirmed that Russia had previously been working to discredit Obama and that they had also interfered in the 2016 election.
The Biden administration has also just announced sanctions against 32 entities and individuals for “carrying out Russian government-directed attempts to influence the 2020 US presidential elections” and have expelled 10 people from the Russian Embassy in Washington.
The punch line, however, is that US intelligence have finally revealed that, in 2016, one key Russian Intelligence Services agent, Konstantin Kilimnik, had provided Russian Intelligence Services with sensitive information on polling data and campaign strategy. It had previously been established that Kilimnik had links to Trump’s campaign chairman Paul Manafort and that Manafort had in fact provided Kilimnik, who was at the time simply described as being “associated with Russian intelligence”, with sensitive information. However, the Senate Intelligence Committee had previously said that while they knew Manafort had handed sensitive information to Kilimnik, they couldn’t confirm why he had done that or whether or not that information had subsequently been passed on to Russian Intelligence Services, essentially because the parties involved were using encrypted communications channels. However we’re know being told that they do know what actually happened.
The Biden administration announced yesterday that Kilimnik is under indictment for obstructions of justice and we are now being told that he ‘did’ in fact provide Russian Intelligence Services with sensitive information on polling & campaign strategy during the 2016 election campaign. There is also now a $250k reward for information leading up to his arrest.
The long and short of this is that US intelligence are now telling us that they have proof that the Trump campaign colluded with Russian Intelligence services in order to undermine two US presidential campaigns.
What seems equally astounding is that, despite the fact that this is a massive news story that broke yesterday, the UK mainstream media still haven’t covered it. Why would the UK media not be interested in a story about Russian meddling in foreign elections?
