We’re busy building a network on the left to support Your Party branches!
As most of you are aware, the main social media platforms are now banning left wing content, reducing visibility of left wing groups and blocking left wing accounts. I myself have been blocked from Facebook and had restrictions put on my X account (I wonder why). So, I’ve now shifted gear and decided we need to find other ways to connect directly, and, I’m pleased to say, I am now in communication with a number of Your Party branches around the country and in the process of reaching out to many more. In my view, building a national network that allows us to share news and ideas, support each others campaigns and get organised, would be extremely helpful, both for local branches and to YP nationally. So, today, I’d like to get the ball rolling by sharing the following calls to action from Kemptown & Peacehaven, Swale and Edinburgh & Lothian branches…
YOUR PARTY KEMPTOWN & PEACEHAVEN
On 5 January, local member Tony Greenstein, will be on trial accused of ‘Terrorism,’ for supporting the Palestinian Resistance and opposing genocide. I’d like to ask friends and supporters to please join the demonstration outside Kingston-Crown Court, 6-8 Penrhyn Road, Kingston Upon Thames KT1 2BB at 9am.
Tony has also set up a crowd fund page to help with legal fees – https://chuffed.org/project/114730-stopping-the-police-persecuting-palestine-solidarity-activists – and he’s in the middle of bringing a civil suit for damages for wrongful arrest, assault and battery and false imprisonment against the Metropolitan Police. Tony is determined to “stand up to Starmer’s thugs in uniform and not let all free speech to be destroyed like it has been in Israel.”

1. Swale are asking for assistance with distributing 4,500 leaflets across the Swale region through January. Like many branches that still dont have membership data from Your Party HQ, it’s been difficult to get organised locally and they’re hoping that targeted leafleting will help connect people. 2) Swale have also developed six pledges based on feedback from their community (the results of a poll of the biggest issues in Swale). A short list of pledges that appeal locally would be more effective at cutting through. Perhaps rolling out a similar exercise across other branches might also help to short list policies that appeal nationally as well?
