The US embassy in Baghdad has been targeted by 3 Katyusha rockets, presumably in retaliation for the US airstrike that killed Iran’s military commander Qassem Soleimani at Baghdad Airport on Friday.
Tensions have been rising sharply in the region all weekend and hit a worrying note earlier today during the state broadcast of Soleimani’s funeral when an announcement was made to offer an $80million (£61million) bounty to anyone who can “get close to the head of President Trump.”
The Iranian Labour News Agency also reported one Iranian MP, Abolfazl Aboutorabi, declaring that Iran had the capability to respond on American Soil and even attack the White House itself.
As Soleimani was assassinated at Iraq’s Baghdad Airport, Iraq’s parliament voted earlier today in support of a motion to remove all foreign troops in Iraq and to deny them access to Iraqi land, airspace and waters.
