House of Representatives has just voted to impeach President Donald Trump for high crimes and misdemeanours. Trump is now the third American president to have been impeached.
Trump has been impeached on two charges…
1) Abuse of power. Trump froze U.S. foreign aid to Ukraine to pressure Ukraine’s president into investigating his political opponents and as such used his office to solicit “the interference of a foreign government in a presidential election.
2) Obstruction of Congress. Trump instructed top level White House staff to defy subpoenas from the House Intelligence Committee and refuse to testify in the impeachment probe.
Trump will now face a Senate impeachment trial.
